In the heat of the pandemic, government employees were suddenly thrown into the world of remote work. This shift created thousands of remote connections that downloaded and uploaded confidential taxpayer information. Overnight, offices had to navigate through new security challenges, like how to keep taxpayer information secure, yet accessible, through a remote connection. Though many local government employees are back in the office full-time, keeping information both accessible and secure remains paramount.
The BIS IT team has been diligently working to increase the security of our internal network over the last quarter. We have a direct connection to our clients via VPN tunnel that is encrypted at 256 bits or higher. That means that any data being transferred in or out of the BIS office is secure. There is protection for all data traveling from point A to point B.
The pandemic highlighted that security is key when it comes to remote work. Whether your team is in the office, working remotely, or a hybrid model, rest assured that security at BIS is a primary area of focus.
