Technology in a time of need:
Mobile Field Device Mapping
The second quarter of 2023 brought with it unexpected challenges. Perryton, Texas, a vibrant community that we are proud to serve, was struck by a severe tornado on June 15th, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Our team at BIS was contacted by our client, Julia Mendez, the Chief Appraiser of Ochiltree County, for support through our geospatial expertise and innovative tools.
Leveraging our Field Maps Mobile app, we swiftly set up a damage assessment map. Julia could then navigate Perryton, logging the level of damage for each property directly on her iPad, which was particularly effective given the gravity of the situation. The resulting color-coded map and corresponding spreadsheet, listing all damaged properties, provided an efficient and user-friendly solution for assessing the tornado’s impact.
Despite the tragic circumstances, we take some solace knowing that our technology played a part in assisting the resilient community of Perryton. As we move forward into the next quarter, we remain committed to standing by our clients in all situations, offering innovative GIS solutions tailored to their needs.
